Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with start times at 3:00 PM or 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday requirements: 2 out of 3 holidays minimum for winter needs, otherwise every other holiday during contract
• Must have Michigan license in hand
• 2 years emergency department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3-4 during day, higher ratios at night after 11 PM
• After 3 AM, only 2 RNs on duty until 7 AM
• Floating requirements to inpatient units for assistance
• Dress code: any solid color scrubs, clean and professional
• Volunteer standby option to go home without pay
• Orientation includes computer-based training and 2 days of floor orientation
• Travelers can perform triage after review of facility policies and procedures
• Must clock in and out at facility
• BSN not required
• First-time travelers and duos accepted
Facility:
This healthcare facility operates a Level IV trauma center emergency department with 14 beds and 2 trauma bays, treating an average of 40-60 patients per day. The emergency department features a fast track area with 3 designated rooms, 2 triage rooms, and both in-department holding areas and attached ACU rooms for overflow. The facility provides 24/7 emergency physician coverage, respiratory therapy services, phlebotomy, and X-ray capabilities. Common patient diagnoses include traumas, hunting injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and various medical emergencies typical of a rural setting.
