Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care for an Acute Med/Surg patient population including orthopedic, colorectal, urology, sepsis, small bowel obstruction, and geriatric/gynecology cases.
- Utilize the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in accordance with professional scope and standards of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families consistent with level of practice.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — American Heart Association only.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification — American Heart Association only.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Telemetry or Acute Med/Surg nursing specialty.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience caring for orthopedic, colorectal, urology, or sepsis patient populations.
