Key Responsibilities
- Use clinical judgment to assess, diagnose, and treat patient responses to actual or potential cardiovascular health conditions
- Provide specialized nursing care for cardiology patients, including those recovering from procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemaker placements
- Care for post-operative open heart surgery patients in the early recovery phase (18–24 hours post-op)
- Manage and monitor patients with congestive heart failure and those undergoing electrophysiology studies
- Interpret and respond to EKG findings as part of ongoing patient monitoring
- Float to similar units as needed to support staffing and patient care needs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience
- Proficiency in cardiac nursing care
- Comfort with EKG interpretation and monitoring
- Active Michigan RN license (LARA and Nursys verification required)
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification
- Must be willing to float to similar units
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application is required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a cardiovascular or IMC/PCU setting beyond the minimum requirement
- Familiarity with national clinical trial protocols or research-integrated care environments
- Prior travel nursing experience
