Key Responsibilities
- Apply clinical judgment skills to assess, diagnose, and treat patient responses to actual or potential cardiovascular health conditions
- Provide specialized nursing care for cardiology patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemaker placement
- Care for post-operative open heart surgery patients in the early recovery phase (18–24 hours post-op)
- Manage and monitor patients with congestive heart failure and those undergoing electrophysiology studies
- Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary care team to ensure patient safety, quality outcomes, and evidence-based practice
- Float to similar units within the facility as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac nursing required
- Comfort with EKG interpretation required
- Active Michigan RN license required (LARA and Nursys verification required)
- Current ACLS certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Must be willing to float to similar units
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience in a fast-paced cardiovascular or stepdown unit environment
