Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications safely and accurately in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies, including cardiac drips such as amiodarone, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, Lasix, milrinone, and heparin.
- Manage and monitor patients with central lines, chest tubes, TR bands, groin management devices, Foley catheters, and CBI; oversee advanced oxygen modalities including high-flow, BiPAP, and Vapotherm.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, including communication with family members and caregivers.
- Anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, applying clinical judgment and evidence-based practice to prioritize patient safety and outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and advocate for patient safety, spiritual care, palliative care, and ethical considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required; experience in a PCU, Stepdown, or acute care setting strongly preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required.
- NIH Stroke Certification required.
- Dysrhythmia exam required prior to start (study guide available).
- Local candidates are not accepted; this is a travel contract position.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
- Experience with post-Cath Lab patient care highly desirable as the unit transitions to a PCT model.
- CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred.
