Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex perioperative nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients across a wide range of surgical specialties
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations effectively
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of employment or a valid compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an Operating Room or surgical nursing specialty
- Ability to fulfill on-call requirements: 1–2 times per week and every 3rd weekend (Friday–Sunday)
- Ability to float between OR locations within the local area as needed
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience scrubbing or circulating in multiple surgical service lines including orthopedics (Mako robotic-assisted procedures), spine/cranial, general surgery (including robotic), urology, podiatry, hand surgery, and ENT
- Familiarity with pediatric surgical cases, particularly orthopedic and ENT procedures
