Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments and maintain current nursing care plans for all assigned patients
- Administer medications safely and consistently in accordance with applicable state practice standards and facility policies
- Manage care for medical-surgical patients including those on remote telemetry monitored by a monitor technician
- Provide care involving TPN, nasogastric tubes, surgical drains, and heparin drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to establish and implement individualized discharge and continuing care plans
- Serve as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the department
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in state of practice or covered by compact licensure
- Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- NIH Stroke certification required
- Must pass Dysrhythmia exam at orientation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with surgical patient populations including post-operative care
- Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring in a medical-surgical setting
- Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (RN-BC or CMSRN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
