Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed
- Assist physicians and certified nurse midwives during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric procedures
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and breastfeeding
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards
Requirements
- Active RN License in California
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification required
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment
