Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations and selected specialty imaging procedures while providing exceptional patient care. This role prepares and positions patients, operates and maintains ultrasound equipment, assists physicians during procedures, and ensures high-quality diagnostic images are obtained. The technologist will work closely with radiologists and healthcare teams while adhering to established imaging and patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine diagnostic ultrasound examinations and selected specialty procedures
• Prepare and position patients appropriately for ultrasound studies
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images while following established imaging protocols
• Assist radiologists and physicians during procedures as needed
• Educate patients and family members regarding ultrasound examinations and procedures
• Review studies for image quality, completeness, and proper documentation
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and perform quality assurance checks and calibrations
• Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs as needed
• Process images and prepare documentation within hospital systems
• Maintain accurate patient records utilizing Meditech, RIS, and PACS systems
• Coordinate patient flow and communicate with transport services regarding patient movement
• Support departmental operations including supply management and workflow efficiency
• Serve as a preceptor or instructor when assigned
• Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
• Provide on-call, holiday, overtime, and emergency coverage as needed
Education & Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program required
• ARDMS certification required or eligibility to obtain certification in accordance with hospital requirements
• Previous ultrasound experience preferred
• Current BLS (CPR) certification preferred
• Must maintain continuing education requirements necessary to retain certification
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred

• Exposure to clinical and hospital environments
• Ability to respond quickly to changing patient needs and departmental priorities
• May be exposed to chemicals and cleaning agents utilized within the healthcare environment
