This position supports a collaborative academic practice dedicated to comprehensive osteoporosis management, including the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic fragility fractures and metabolic bone health optimization.The selected provider will collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, residents, fellows, and multidisciplinary care teams in outpatient clinic settings. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a provider interested in practicing within an academic medical environment while developing specialized expertise in osteoporosis management.Essential Functions:
Assess, diagnose, and manage osteoporosis in orthopedic fracture patientsCollaborate with orthopedic surgeons, residents, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary care teamsProvide comprehensive patient education on bone health, osteoporosis treatment options, and injury prevention strategiesPromote bone health awareness initiatives to prevent recurrent fracturesOrder and interpret diagnostic studies, including bone mineral density scans, laboratory tests, and radiographic imagingPrescribe and monitor evidence-based osteoporosis treatment regimensCoordinate referrals and facilitate care transitions to primary care providers and subspecialty servicesMonitor clinical outcomes and promote adherence to evidence-based best practicesProvide care across designated Banner University Medical Center Tucson outpatient clinic locationsMinimum Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted Arizona Physician Assistant license certificationCurrent BLS and CPR certificationActive DEA registration and prescribing privilegesStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic settingOrthopedic, rheumatology, endocrinology, osteoporosis, or musculoskeletal experience preferredHighly qualified new graduates with a demonstrated interest in orthopedics and osteoporosis/bone health are encouraged to apply.Work Schedule:
