StoneSprings Hospital Center, part of the HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator Operating Room to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will serve as a frontline clinical leader within the operating room, coordinating and delivering high-quality perioperative nursing care for surgical patients across a range of specialties, including bariatric surgery, cardiology, robotic surgery, orthopedics, and maternity-related procedures. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator Operating Room is responsible for supervising and supporting OR nursing staff during assigned shifts, providing clinical guidance, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, infection prevention standards, and hospital policies. You will participate directly in patient care, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative circulating and/or scrubbing responsibilities, and postoperative coordination, while also helping to manage case flow, room turnover, and resource utilization in a fast-paced environment.
You will serve as a primary clinical resource in the OR, helping to triage and prioritize cases, anticipate equipment and supply needs, and collaborate with the charge nurse and OR leadership to optimize daily schedules. The role involves orienting and mentoring new nurses and staff, supporting ongoing skills development, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. You will assist with quality improvement initiatives, tracking key performance indicators such as on-time starts, surgical site infection prevention, and patient satisfaction, and will participate in incident review and follow-up as needed.
Aligned with StoneSprings Hospital Center’s mission of providing compassionate, high-quality patient care in a supportive and ethical work environment, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator Operating Room is expected to model professional, patient-centered communication with patients and families, and to advocate for patient needs throughout the perioperative continuum. You will help ensure that patients and their families understand procedures, expectations, and postoperative instructions, and that cultural, spiritual, and individual needs are respected.
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with at least two years of recent operating room experience, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to function effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical setting. You should be comfortable coordinating multiple priorities, responding calmly and effectively to emergencies, and collaborating transparently with physicians and colleagues. Experience with high-tech OR environments, including robotic surgery, is highly desirable.
This is a full-time, hospital-based position that requires flexibility with scheduling, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations based on surgical volume and patient needs. StoneSprings Hospital Center offers a supportive team culture, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and families in the community.
