Opportunity:
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Must work 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
• Holiday schedule based on unit coverage and worked into permanent holiday rotation
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Must have Level 1 trauma experience - REQUIRED
• 2 years of nursing experience required, neuro experience highly preferred
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Must pass Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab including Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion
• Must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin drips
• Must be able to interpret EKG readings with central monitoring
• Must have own vehicle for travel
• Dress code: Steel gray scrubs, natural hair color only, no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit testing
• Work with Cerner EMR system using WOWs (workstations on wheels)
• Float to telemetry units and telemetry overflow in ICU
• 2-day floor-specific orientation
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psychiatric issues, brain tumors, and trached patients
• Fast-paced, high turnover unit with average length of stay 4-5 days
• Bedside report required
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

This acute care facility operates as a Level 1 trauma center with comprehensive neurological telemetry services. The organization features a 32-bed neuro telemetry unit with advanced monitoring capabilities and specialized equipment. The facility maintains 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, with SWAT RN availability for difficult IV access. The healthcare system emphasizes high standards of care with rigorous competency requirements and maintains modern technology including central monitoring systems and electronic medical records.
