NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS! **Director is REQUESTING 2 years of references for each submittal - must be sent with submittal email** Unit Birthing Center/Mother Baby # L&D Beds 34 total beds # OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections? 2 # Triage beds 2 Triage beds # Postpartum beds 14 # Births per day? Month? Year? 150-180 births a month on average. In 2022 they did 2,133 deliveries Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios? 1:2 L&D & 1:3-4 couplets Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) RNs- BLS, ACLS, NRP; prefer intermediate or advanced FHM Common diagnoses/Types of patients 33 weeks and above. High risk, Preeclampsia, Diabetic, Psych/Social issues, positive elicit substance use Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have LDRP experience Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in c-sections. Must be comfortable assisting with catching baby and transitioning baby. Must have 2 years of experience, will consider someone with 1 year of experience if they have multiple prior travel experience Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Magnesium, Pitocin and Insulin Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Free charge, both shifts. Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? one surgical tech 24/7. There is also a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift. OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? 24/7 in house OBGYN/hospitalist, assists with triaging patients and emergent cases; 24/7 NNP in our Nursery Anesthesia in house 24/7? Yes, we have an OB anesthesia provider 24/7; has call room in our unit RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) yes- typically one assigned to family birth Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Yes for PACU after C-section EFM System Centricity-perinatal Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) We do block scheduling when requested in their contracts. Weekend Requirements Every other. Days (Sat and Sun) Nights (Fri and Sat) Holiday Requirements rotate in with perm staff Is there a call or standby requirement? When placed standby, response time is 45 minutes Floating Requirements? Mother baby and post-partum all one unit. No floating to NICU. No floating outside of the department; Labor Travelers also need to function in Postpartum with routine mom and baby competencies; also need to be able to transition babies & attend low risk deliveries. Scrub Color/Dress code scrubs provided. A locker is provided as well. Unit/Department specific orientation An 8 hour day for compliance with manager, 8 hour EPIC class. 2-3 12 hour shift for unit specific orientation Additional Notes The manager is friendly and does provide feedback to travelers as she believes in ensuring ALL staff are providing quality work.
