7 WEST (Stepdown & Floor)
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 32 total beds (12 stepdown beds, 20 floor beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for stepdown patients, 1:4-6 for floor patients
• Work 2 weekends per schedule
• Holiday schedule integrated with permanent staff
• May be required to float to any floor or stepdown unit
• BLS certification required
• BSN degree not required
• Royal blue scrubs required
• EPIC charting system
• Must be able to read telemetry strips in conjunction with monitor techs
• Care for typical medical-surgical population including chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, UTI, and abdominal pain patients
• Manage drips in stepdown area and PCAs, heparin on floor
• Handle overflow patients from most services and hospice patients
• 2 shift cancellation policy per 13-week contract
• Driver's license address must be outside 50 miles from facility
Facility:
This Level 1 trauma center operates a 32-bed combined stepdown and medical-surgical floor unit providing acute care services. The facility maintains a free charge nurse per unit and always has a house supervisor available for support. The unit features telemetry monitoring with dedicated monitor techs who continuously observe strips, and respiratory therapy equipment is managed by specialized RT staff. The healthcare organization uses EPIC charting system and maintains high standards for patient care across multiple service lines.
