Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and holiday requirements
• Self-scheduling available with manager accommodation based on unit staffing needs
• Patient ratios: 1:2 standard, 1:1 for higher acuity patients (CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, OPO), 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients
• Must have experience with high acuity patients in tertiary care setting
• Required to titrate drips including epinephrine, norepinephrine, propofol, precedex, vasopressin, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, milrinone
• Must read and document patient rhythm strips independently
• Float requirements: MICU when not needed in SICU, or serve as patient observer within hospital
• Experience with cardiovascular surgery, trauma, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery patients preferred
• CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience desired but not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Professional dress code with clean attire, no specific color requirements
• One day system onboarding/CBT completion plus two orientation shifts on unit
• Must complete skills checklist
• Charting system: Cerner
• Must clock in and out at facility
Facility:
This facility operates a 16-bed Surgical ICU plus 2 additional procedural beds, serving as a level 2 trauma center and tertiary care facility. The unit provides comprehensive critical care services with 24/7 intensivist coverage, respiratory therapy support, and advanced equipment including ventilators, BiPAP, and Vapotherm. The facility specializes in cardiovascular surgery, trauma care, and complex surgical cases requiring intensive monitoring and specialized nursing care.
