Sterile Processing Technician Job Details
- Location: Ithaca, NY 14850 (New York healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (July 29, 2024 – October 28, 2024)
- Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Sterile Processing Unit
- Shifts: Variable – 5x8 hour shifts per week
- Shift Times: 2 day shifts (7am–3pm or 8am–4pm) and 1 evening shift (3pm–11pm); Monday–Friday with rotating weekends and possible call
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1080–$1160
- Travel Requirement: One day shift position requires travel to another campus 3 days a week
- Employment Type: Travel Sterile Processing Technician
Sterile Processing Technician Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a hospital or clinical support setting
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (SP Tech) – certification required
- Ability to work variable shifts, including rotating weekends and on-call as needed
- Willingness to travel to another campus for instrument processing
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and infection control
Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of sterile supplies for surgical and clinical procedures
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory management
- Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and healthcare staff to support patient care
- Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and safety protocols
- Travel to another campus as required for sterile processing support
