The Assistant Dean for Academic Excellence and Community in the School of Liberal Arts (SLA) supports the SLA Dean and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in advancing key priorities and opportunity initiatives related to academic excellence, community-building, and faculty engagement to ensure that students, faculty, and staff from a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences can thrive and reach their full potential. This position plays a central role in aligning community-building initiatives with Tulane University's Office of Academic Excellence and Opportunity and implementing SLA's strategic plan with central university activities, projects, and events.
The Assistant Dean for Academic Excellence and Community will design and lead initiatives that coordinate and advance SLA's academic excellence and strategy in collaboration with university core values and goals, enhance faculty development to build learning, research, and working environments where all can succeed, collaborate with fellow SLA Associate Deans, Chairs and Directors to support faculty and staff well-being; use data-driven approaches to evaluate progress; manage strategic communications related to academic excellence and opportunity; act as a liaison between SLA and the central Office of Academic Excellence and Opportunity office; serve on and collaborate with campus-wide AEO committees and other working groups; work with campus partners to highlight existing campus resources (e.g., conflict resolution frameworks, restorative practices, faculty engagement and collaboration); collaborate with university partners on anti-discrimination initiatives; and set the tone for student, faculty, and staff discourse around issues of academic excellence and opportunity, embracing respectful dialogue and examining issues from a variety of viewpoints.

• Master's Degree and 3-5 years of experience advancing academic excellence and inclusion in higher education
• Demonstrated success in program development, implementation, and assessment
• Experience collaborating with faculty and navigating university administrative structures
• Strong strategic thinking and leadership capabilities
• Proficiency in managing websites and communication tools
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and work collaboratively within teams
• Advanced knowledge of restorative practices, institutional transformation, and equity frameworks
• Familiarity with literature on belonging, intersectionality, and inclusive pedagogy
• Extensive professional development and facilitation experience leading groups with a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences in higher education
• Experience in liberal arts education or related academic settings
• Understanding of Tulane's research, teaching, and service mission and Tulane's core values
