Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (07/06/2026 – 10/05/2026)
Shift Matrix: Days | 07:00 – 15:30 (5x8-Hour Shifts | Monday through Friday footprint)
Note: While 07:00 – 15:30 is the primary schedule, the department requires leadership flexibility based on daily operational volume.

- Education Requirement: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) is strictly required. Profiles without a verified BSN will be automatically bypassed.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of progressive leadership/management experience in a perianesthesia setting, paired with foundational exposure to Operating Room (OR) workflows.
- Schedule Luxury: No weekends and no holidays required.
- Licensure & Certifications: Active New York (NY) State RN License, AHA BLS, and AHA ACLS must be held at the time of submission. PALS is highly preferred.
- Software Requirement: Proficient, hands-on charting and tracking experience using the specified electronic health record platform is required.
Job Summary
A high-volume ambulatory surgery center in West Nyack, NY is seeking an expert, highly adaptable Pre-Op / PACU Nurse Manager for a 13-week interim leadership assignment. This role is designed for a nurse leader who can immediately take over day-to-day ambulatory operations, coordinate multi-specialty surgical intakes, manage post-anesthesia recovery workflows, and troubleshoot clinical or scheduling bottlenecks. The ideal candidate will blend strong clinical peri anesthesia expertise with leadership acumen to maintain unit safety, efficiency, and staff synchronization.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operational Leadership: Direct and oversee the daily throughput of the Pre-Op and PACU bays, aligning staffing models with shifting surgical schedules to optimize room turnarounds.
- Clinical Troubleshooting & Escalation: Serve as the primary on-the-floor resource for clinical problem-solving, resolving complex patient care issues, tracking physician preference changes, and enforcing high-quality evidence-based care.
- Cross-Departmental Synchronization: Foster tight communication loops between the pre-operative holding area, the main operating room suites, Phase I/II recovery components, and anesthesia providers.
- Quality & Safety Advocacy: Ensure the unit remains in absolute compliance with perioperative safety benchmarks, tracking strict medication reconciliation, time-out adherence, and safe discharge scoring guidelines (e.g., Aldrete scoring).
- Resource & Staff Management: Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and clinical direction to the nursing and ancillary staff, managing daily assignments and handling volume surge adjustments fluidly.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Leadership Background: Verifiable history managing or supervising a fast-paced Pre-Op, PACU, or outpatient surgical environment.
- OR Clinical Awareness: A foundational understanding of general operating room flows, sterile parameters, and surgeon dynamics to effectively bridge the gap between pre- and post-operative suites.
- Core Certifications: Active AHA BLS and AHA ACLS are mandatory. PALS certification is strongly favored to support multi-demographic ambulatory lines.
