Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Rotate holidays with permanent staff
• No floating between units
• 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Patient ratio of 1 to 4
• 12-bed unit with 2 trauma bays, 1 seclusion room, and a 4-room fast track clinic
• Approximately 70 patients seen per day ranging from neonates to geriatrics, including minor walk-in cases and trauma
• Trauma cases will be stabilized and transferred via air evacuation
• Pediatric cases will be transferred out as needed
• Common diagnoses include minor walk-in cases through trauma presentations
• Ventilator experience required
• Nurses typically perform their own lab draws
• IV team available for midlines and difficult sticks Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Charge nurses do not take patients
• EMR system: Meditech
• Dress code: Hunter green pants, white top, and white jacket
• Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty and 1 travel contract required
• Must reside outside of a 75-mile radius
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), TNCC
Facility:
This acute care emergency department operates a 12-bed unit including 2 trauma bays and a dedicated fast track clinic for lower acuity patients. The facility provides a full range of emergency services from minor walk-in cases to trauma stabilization, supported by respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available around the clock. The department is staffed with a collaborative team including paramedics, ER techs, nurse externs, and physician support consisting of one MD and two mid-level providers per shift.
