Work Environment
Work is performed in an office environment that requires working in proximity to other employees and patients.
The office is air conditioned as well as heated.
Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
Fast-paced environment including frequent interruptions.
Frequent sitting, walking, standing and bending.
Possibility of lifting of patients.
Mobility may include access through a multi-level facility, including climbing stairs.
Employee required to have reasonable access to transportation to meet work requirements made in the ordinary course of business in a timely and efficient manner (i.e., travel to various office locations).

Required Functions
Develop and maintain a well-coordinated, multi-disciplinary sepsis accreditation program at UHS
Develops, reviews, and updates standards of care, policies, clinical pathways, protocols, and order sets to comply with sepsis program best practices and optimal patient outcomes, Acts as an expert resource for sepsis care.
Serves as coordinator for all sepsis workflows.
Collaborates with the quality management department & sepsis registry programs and staff to ensure timely and accurate data abstraction/entry occurs.
Responsible for developing, coordinating and ensuring delivery of regular sepsis education to nurses, physicians, clinicians, patients, families, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), communities, referring hospitals.
Develops performance improvement plans for sepsis programs that achieve and maintain positive patient outcomes.
Promotes a positive image of the UHSH to patients, physicians, EMS, hospital staff, and the community.
Monitors and adheres to following sepsis rounding procedures on admitted sepsis patients and navigates their care; lead/supervise other nurse navigators if assigned.
Participates in appropriate hospital committees.
Actively participates on local, regional, and national advisory groups to work to advance the science of care for the sepsis patient.
Actively remain abreast of current evidence-based practice for sepsis.
Education and Experience
Minimum Required
Bachelors degree
2-5 years clinical nursing experience in the Emergency Department, Critical Care, or working in the inpatient service line.
License and/pr Certification
