Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
- Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and monitor patient progress
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and care plans
- Assess and manage patients experiencing behavioral crises and psychiatric emergencies
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Monitor patient safety and maintain a therapeutic environment
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, coping strategies, and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care guidelines
- Support patients through crisis intervention and therapeutic communication techniques
Requirements
- Active RN License in California
- Minimum 2 years of recent Psychiatric or Behavioral Health nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification preferred
- Strong assessment, de-escalation, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage patients with diverse psychiatric diagnoses and behavioral needs
- Experience with electronic medical records and nursing documentation systems
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered mental health care
