Shift: Days | Monday–Friday | Flex Schedule (Typically 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

Position Overview:
Summa Health is seeking an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) with strong Open Heart/Cardiovascular Surgery experience for a high-acuity CVOR assignment. This role requires a skilled RNFA who can independently first assist during complex cardiac procedures and provide vein harvesting for CABG surgeries.
Required Experience:
- Active RN License (Ohio or Compact)
- Current RNFA Certification
- Recent Open Heart/Cardiac Surgery experience
- Minimum 2+ years of RNFA experience in a CVOR setting
- Strong experience assisting in complex cardiovascular procedures
- Ability to take call as required
Required Surgical Experience:
Candidates must have hands-on experience assisting with:
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) Procedures
- Aortic Valve Repair & Replacement
- Mitral Valve Repair & Replacement
- Tricuspid Valve Repair & Replacement
- Ascending Aorta Replacement
- ECMO Procedures
- Endoscopic/Open Vein Harvesting for CABG Cases
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary surgical assistant during cardiovascular procedures
- Perform vein harvesting for CABG surgeries
- Assist surgeons with exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and tissue handling
- Ensure safe patient positioning and operative preparation
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and OR staff
- Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation
- Adhere to all sterile technique and patient safety protocols
Ideal Candidate
- Strong Open-Heart RNFA background
- Experienced with high-acuity cardiac cases
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced CVOR environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ready to take call and support emergent cardiac procedures
