Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and oncology treatments as prescribed
- Monitor and manage treatment-related side effects and complications
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, symptom management, and discharge instructions
- Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families throughout the treatment process
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards
- Advocate for patients and promote holistic, patient-centered care
Requirements
- Active RN License in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification preferred
- ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification preferred
- Experience administering chemotherapy and managing oncology-related complications preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced oncology environment
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
