Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate health care services for patients before, during, and after cardiovascular surgical procedures
- Ensure sterile procedures are followed throughout the course of surgery and that necessary equipment and medications are available for the operating room team
- Record progress and outcomes of surgical procedures and ensure proper handling of specimens
- Provide quality control and ensure patient safety at all times within a 2-bed open heart surgical suite environment
- Participate in on-call rotation, approximately every other day and every other weekend, including night shift on-call coverage
- Provide lunch relief coverage across additional service lines including Vascular, Robotics, General, Ortho, Neuro/Spine, Urology, Podiatry, Thoracic, and Plastic Surgery as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of current, acute CVOR experience
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Proficiency with open heart instrumentation and supplies, TEE equipment, and ultrasound
- Experience with procedures including CABG, MVR, AVR, pacemaker implantation, laser lead extractions, thoracic, and endovascular procedures
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with minimally invasive cardiac procedures, including TAVR and mitral clip procedures
- Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
- Ability to function independently and adapt quickly in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Previous travel nursing experience
