Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data; provide nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician-prescribed medical plans.
- Perform all circulating duties, including prepping the operating room for patient and procedure, positioning and preparing the patient on the operating table, and completing the Safe Surgery verification checklist.
- Delegate, supervise, and evaluate the activities of other team members while executing immediate directives and interventions in urgent or emergent situations.
- Serve as the communication liaison between family members and the operating team throughout the surgical process.
- Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner using appropriate formats and forms, utilizing computer programs as required for patient care delivery.
- Assist in the control and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and contribute to the daily efficient performance of the department, including participation in assigned call as scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Experience in cardiovascular or cardiac operating room nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to perform circulating duties with efficiency and speed.
- Proficiency with computer programs utilized in patient care delivery.
- Ability to work within or outside the sterile field as assigned, utilizing appropriate health and safety equipment.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a high-acuity or fast-paced surgical environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional growth through goal-setting and participation in educational offerings.
