Key Responsibilities
- Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment.
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with level of practice.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given accurately and thoroughly.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.
- Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN License in state of employment or valid compact license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in CVOR or cardiovascular surgical nursing.
- Ability to meet weekend and on-call requirements as needed.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience practicing independently in a CVOR or similar clinical setting with the ability to manage complex and contingent clinical situations.
