Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotate with staff
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct inpatient nursing care on a 29-bed oncology floor unit
- Care for patients presenting with acute oncology symptoms including thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology conditions, and end-of-life care
- Receive and complete treatment for outpatient oncology patients transferred to the floor when the outpatient area closes
- Monitor patients via central telemetry system (strip reading not required)
- Collaborate with charge nurses and nurse aides (generally 3 per shift) within established staffing ratios of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- Float rarely to medical acute unit as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of experience in oncology specialty
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR
- Must reside within 75 miles of the facility (verified by driver's license at time of submission)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) chemotherapy certification preferred; minimum 2 years of oncology experience required if administering chemotherapy
