Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care in a freestanding emergency department (FSED) setting with an 11-bed unit and acuity-based patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6
- Perform IV insertion, Foley catheter insertion, and NG tube insertion, and assist providers with procedures common to the ED setting
- Operate, set up, and adjust respiratory equipment including BiPAP and ventilator equipment, with phone support available from the main hospital
- Run and manage point-of-care (POC) laboratory testing in collaboration with PCTs
- Utilize AIDET, narration of care, and SBAR communication standards for department, admission, transfer, and handoff situations
- Float to the main ED as needed and facilitate frequent admissions from the FSED to the main hospital
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience
- Required certifications: TNCC, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and NIHSS — all must be included in submission packet
- Experience caring for trauma patients and managing commonly seen ED chief complaints
- Proficiency with Meditech documentation system
- Availability to work every other weekend with no special scheduling requests or RTO during the assignment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a freestanding or satellite emergency department environment
- Familiarity with BiPAP and ventilator management in an ED setting
- Positive, flexible, team-oriented, and patient-centered approach to care
