Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial patient assessments; establish care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs, and reassess systematically to identify trends requiring intervention.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a measurable, individualized plan of care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care; modify the plan based on patient outcomes and clinical evaluations.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of clinical facts; perform Point of Care testing procedures as required.
- Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments, follow up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness, and adjust team assignments based on patient and unit needs.
- Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning; implement and document timely, appropriate interventions.
- Promote a positive work environment, support orientation of new staff and students, and collaborate with physicians, staff, and visitors to achieve unit and organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA.
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care or ICU setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Current knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served in a critical care environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, adapting communication style to the developmental age of the patient.
- Experience with floating to multiple units or locations within a facility.
