Key Responsibilities
- Obtains and records initial patient assessments and establishes care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs; reassesses patients systematically to identify trends requiring intervention.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized, measurable plans of care in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care; modifies plans based on patient outcomes and clinical evaluations.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of clinical facts and patient evaluations; performs Point of Care testing procedures as required.
- Delegates unit work assignments appropriately, coordinates team assignments based on patient and unit needs, and follows up on delegated tasks for quality and completeness.
- Participates in patient and family health education and discharge planning; implements and documents timely, appropriate interventions.
- Supports a positive work environment by demonstrating professionalism, effective communication, and collaboration with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state RN license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA.
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care or ICU setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Current knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served in a critical care environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, adapting to the developmental age of the patient.
- Experience with floating to additional units or locations as needed.
