Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Neurology & Neurosurgery Mixed Acuity)

Contract (13 or 26 week options available) | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 hour per week options | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity unit encompassing Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Stepdown levels of care within a 48-bed neurological and neurosurgical unit
- Care for patients with conditions including strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological diagnoses; unit includes eight beds equipped for long-term EEG monitoring
- Manage patient ratios of 1:5–1:6 (Med Surg/Telemetry) and 1:3–1:4 (Stepdown) depending on shift and staffing needs
- Administer and monitor IV drips as required across all floors
- Float within scope to other units and campuses as needed to meet facility staffing requirements
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly using EPIC electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (or pending Nebraska RN state license; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be scheduled six weeks out)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with experience in a large, urban hospital required
- Proficiency with IV drip administration required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
- Must be available to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period and 2 out of 3 major holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (considered in lieu of travel experience for first-time travelers with 2+ years of qualifying experience)
- Background in neurology, neurosurgery, or telemetry nursing
- Familiarity with long-term EEG monitoring environments
