Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Neurology & Neurosurgery Mixed Acuity)

Contract (13 or 26 week options available) | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 hour per week options | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity unit encompassing Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Stepdown levels, with a specialized focus on neurological and neurosurgical patient populations including strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, and brain and spinal cord tumors.
- Manage patient assignments at established ratios: MS/Tele 1:5 days / 1:6 nights (up to 1:7 nights in rare circumstances) and Stepdown 1:3–4 days and nights.
- Administer and monitor IV drips as required across all floors.
- Document all patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records.
- Float within scope of practice to various units and campuses as needed to meet facility staffing needs.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team including CNAs, care techs, transport, swoop/paramedics, and LPNs where assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (or pending Nebraska RN state license; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be booked six weeks out).
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with experience in a large, urban hospital required.
- Proficiency with EPIC charting is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage IV drips.
- Willingness and ability to float frequently to meet facility staffing needs, including to an additional campus.
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (considered in lieu of prior travel nursing experience for first-time travelers with 2+ years of qualifying experience).
- Background in neurology, neurosurgery, or care of complex neurological patient populations.
- Familiarity with long-term EEG monitoring environments.
