Job Title
Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)
Location
Roanoke, VA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
- Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
- Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); maintain central and peripheral line care
- Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Monitor patients within a dedicated epilepsy unit offering continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
- Float to other units within clinical skillset as required; adhere to isolation precautions
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Demonstrated experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, and IV therapy
- Comfort with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Neuro PCU, IMC, or Stepdown unit setting
- Experience with neurosurgical recovery and stroke management protocols
- Travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers accepted
