Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | Onsite | Shifts: 0630–1900 and 1830–0700 | Every third weekend required (up to every other based on unit need) | 1 major and 1 minor holiday required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to high-risk and routine obstetric patients in a Labor and Delivery setting with 16 labor rooms, 9 antepartum rooms, and a 7-bed triage unit
- Circulate in the OR for cesarean section procedures across 3 dedicated OR suites on the unit
- Titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and pain medications per physician orders
- Perform normal newborn assessments and routine infant care; float to Postpartum as needed to care for both mother and infant
- Assess obstetric patients greater than 20 weeks with pregnancy-related complaints in the triage unit
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including on-floor residents, supervising physicians, CRNAs available 24/7, and OB technicians
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in good standing
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Ability to circulate in the OR for cesarean sections
- Competency in normal newborn assessments and routine newborn care
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring (EFM); familiarity with Obix system a plus
- Prior experience in a high-volume Labor and Delivery setting (unit delivers up to 400 births per month)
- Familiarity with AWHONN staffing guidelines and antepartum patient care
- Demonstrated ability to manage titratable drips in an obstetric setting
