Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit with a focus on heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patient populations
- Maintain RN patient ratios of 1:5–1:6 while delivering safe, high-quality care
- Administer and monitor drip therapies including Heparin, PCAs, and 3% Sodium (no titration required)
- Utilize specialty equipment including telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and airvo devices
- Perform EKG strip reading, measuring, and telemetry interpretation
- Float across multiple campuses within the health system as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of recent experience in a Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care setting within a hospital or medical center
- Neurology and/or neurosurgery care experience
- Orthopedic care experience
- Drip experience: Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
- EKG/strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
- Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification
- Active AHA or ARC BLS certification
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 12 months
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Trauma Level I care experience
- Experience with specialty equipment: telemetry, chest tubes, and airvo devices
- NIHSS certification (may be obtained during onboarding)
- De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
