Key Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness during the recovery phase
- Administer medications and interventions as ordered to manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms
- Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe patient transitions from the OR to the PACU
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in the medical record
- Prepare patients and families for discharge or transfer with appropriate education and instructions
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU nursing experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification – American Heart Association
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a high-volume or acute care surgical environment
- Familiarity with a broad range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, cardiac, and general surgery
