Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed, all-private, continuously monitored cardiovascular ICU with patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 depending on acuity
- Care for a complex cardiovascular patient population including post open-heart surgical patients (CABG, valve procedures, dissections, AAA, vascular and carotid procedures), STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, severe heart failure, TAVRs, ventilated patients, and overflow ICU patients
- Manage and titrate multiple vasoactive and sedation drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epinephrine, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol, per protocol or written order
- Operate and troubleshoot specialty intervention equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT, and ventilators (CPAP, BiPAP, heated high flow, nitric oxide)
- Manage invasive lines including PICC, midlines, CVCs, Swan-Ganz catheters, and arterial lines (radial and femoral)
- Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently using Philips monitoring systems; collaborate with charge nurses, PCTs, monitor techs, respiratory therapists, and advanced practice providers available on all shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, continuous CVICU experience with demonstrated ability to practice independently from day one
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency with cardiovascular ICU equipment including swans, arterial lines, CVCs, temporary pacemakers, IABPs, and ventilators
- Ability to titrate multiple drips simultaneously and manage high-acuity, complex cardiovascular patients
- Strong cardiac strip interpretation, critical thinking, assessment, communication, and time management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- CCRN certification is a plus
- Experience with immediate post-operative cardiac surgical patients, VAD management, or heart transplant care
- Prior travel nursing experience in ICU settings
