Key Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate care and telemetry nursing for adult and geriatric patients across cardiac, renal, respiratory, GI, and CIWA populations
- Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs, manage cardiac monitoring, and respond to arrhythmias including cardioversion and defibrillation
- Manage advanced lines and devices including PICC lines, central lines, Port-A-Cath, triple lumen catheters, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, wound vacs, and feeding tubes
- Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Levophed, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin, Norepinephrine, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antiarrhythmics
- Manage respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatments for patients in general respiratory failure
- Maintain staffing ratios of 1:3 (IMCU) and 1:4 (Telemetry) and float to other units or campuses as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Must be qualified at IMU level for this PCU position
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency with pre/post cardiac cath care, cooling/warming blankets, and vascular device access and care
- Completion of required compliance modules prior to start date
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a mixed telemetry and IMCU environment
- Familiarity with syringe pumps, fistula care, and drain management
- Prior travel nursing experience in an acute care or stepdown setting
