ED Observation Registered Nurse

Contract | Nights | 36 Hours per Week | Every Other Weekend | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients in a 16-bed Observation Unit, including patients on hold status
- Perform general ED nursing duties including patient assessment, IV placement, phlebotomy, EKG, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, and splinting
- Read and interpret telemetry strips for continuous cardiac monitoring
- Accurately document patient care using Epic, ASAP, and Clin Doc EMR systems
- Deliver patient education and apply critical thinking to support patient outcomes
- Float to other units as needed and participate in rotating shift assignments
Required Qualifications
- Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License
- AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a single ED or observation setting
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a travel nurse
- Demonstrated ability to read telemetry strips
- Proficiency in general ED nursing skills including assessment, documentation, IV, phlebotomy, EKG, and cardiac monitoring
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience with Epic, ASAP, or Clin Doc charting systems
- Experience working in an observation or ED hold unit environment
