Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
- Care for patients with diagnoses including total joints, orthopedic hip fractures, spine surgeries, urology procedures, general surgeries, GYN overflow, COPD, sepsis, and infections
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes virtual tele monitoring with SpaceLab (transitioning to Philips)
- Manage set-rate and titratable drips including heparin, PCAs, and morphine drips as assigned
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs (1:8 ratio), and respiratory therapy staff managing CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
- Float as needed to other Medical Surgical units and like units within the local area, including potential ER holds or 1:1 assignments
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS certification
- EKG certification required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Ability to read and independently interpret telemetry strips
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience precepting new travelers or nursing students
- Familiarity with SpaceLab or Philips telemetry monitoring systems
- Experience with post-surgical patient populations including orthopedic and urology cases
