Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Afternoons/Nights (3:30 PM – 4:00 AM) | 36 hours guaranteed per week | Every other weekend and one major holiday required
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in a fast-paced emergency department setting
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice standards and organizational policies
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments throughout the episode of care
- Apply emergency nursing practice to patients of all ages presenting with a broad range of medical complaints, from non-urgent to life-threatening conditions
- Collaborate with an interprofessional team including RT, PCTs, phlebotomy, ED techs, charge nurses, and on-site physicians to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and model core safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of Virginia or valid compact license
- Minimum one (1) year of Emergency Department RN experience
- Experience with conscious sedation required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required
- CPI/De-escalation training required
- Must pass EKG exam at orientation; copy of nursing diploma required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Familiarity with equipment such as Alaris pumps, Hamilton ventilators, GlideScope, Autopulse, AmbuScope, ultrasound, and bladder scanner
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
