Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 13–26 Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with an Oncology patient population, including administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy (IV, PO, or injection), and management of complex diagnoses such as sepsis, AKI, malignant neoplasms, and diabetic foot ulcers
- Perform and manage clinical skills including central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, and colostomy care
- Administer blood products, heparin drips, and insulin per physician orders while maintaining accurate documentation using EPIC and PYXIS
- Float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations as needed, including inpatient holding in the ED or other medical patient care areas
- Participate in every-other-weekend rotation and fulfill on-call requirements for pre-scheduled shifts that are called off
- Be prepared to serve on a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient Medical Surgical setting
- Proficiency in Med/Surg clinical skills including port access, blood product administration, PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Ability to administer chemotherapy if required
- Current BLS certification
- Willingness to float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations within or near the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Charge nurse experience
