Role & Clinical Overview:
The Emergency Room RN is responsible for the delivery of coordinated, rapid-response nursing care for an assigned group of acute patients. The selected clinician must demonstrate strong critical thinking, professional discretion, and clinical judgment to stabilize and manage patients in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Perform rapid assessment, triage, treatment, and evaluation of emergency patients.
- Supervision: Direct and coordinate the activities of auxiliary nursing staff as required.
- Interdisciplinary Support: Coordinate care plans closely with emergency physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary services.
Position Requirements
Experience & Charting
- Dual Charting Systems: Must have proven, hands-on experience with both EPIC and Cerner electronic health records (this is a backfill requirement for EPIC).
- Clinical Setting: Prior acute care facility experience is highly preferred (BSN degree preferred).
Licensure & Certifications
All certifications must be active and issued by vendors approved under Adventist Health (AH) policies:
- State Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Hawaii.
- Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
- Stroke Competency: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is mandatory.
- Crisis Management: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM / TEAM-A) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification is required.
