Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients requiring step-down or progressive care services
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, telemetry data, and other patient monitoring systems
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and changes in clinical status
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards
- Support patients throughout recovery and transition to lower levels of care
Requirements
- Active RN License in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, Step-Down, Telemetry, or Critical Care nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification required
- NIHSS certification
- Strong cardiac monitoring and patient assessment skills
- Excellent critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced acute care environment
