**Exciting Opportunity for an Operating Room RN Circulator!**
**Job Description:**

**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Patient Advocacy & Safety:**
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, consent, and history.
- Perform preoperative assessments and actively participate in time-out procedures.
- Advocate for patients throughout their surgical journey.
- **Operating Room Management:**
- Prepare the operating room suite with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgical team.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic/sterile technique; report any breaks in technique.
- **Intraoperative Care:**
- Manage non-sterile aspects of procedures, including handling specimens and documenting intraoperative events.
- Coordinate effectively with anesthesia, surgeons, and scrub personnel.
- Ensure accurate accounting of all sponges, sharps, and instruments.
- **Patient Monitoring:**
- Continuously assess patient status, vital signs, and physiological responses.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers for patient stability.
- Provide comfort measures and maintain a safe physical environment.
- **Documentation:**
- Document nursing care, medications, implants, supplies, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
- **Supply & Equipment Management:**
- Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure equipment functionality.
- Participate in the cost-effective use of resources.
- **Postoperative Transition:**
- Assist with patient transfer to PACU or other units.
- Provide detailed hand-off reports to ensure continuity of care.
- **Emergency Response:**
- Respond promptly to emergencies including trauma activations and code situations.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours surgical emergencies.
- **Quality & Compliance:**
- Adhere to AORN standards and infection control policies.
- Participate in performance improvement, safety initiatives, and staff education.
- **Team Collaboration:**
- Work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team in a resource-limited setting.
- Demonstrate flexibility to assist in other perioperative areas as needed.
**Qualifications & Requirements:**
- **Education:**
- Graduate of an accredited Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN preferred).
- **Licensure & Certifications:**
- Current, unrestricted RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required (or obtain within 6 months).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- CNOR certification preferred.
- **Experience:**
- Minimum 1–2 years of Operating Room experience as a Circulator strongly preferred.
- Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural facility is a plus.
- **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient safety and teamwork.
