Join the Vantage Radiology & Diagnostic Services practice as a Part Time Physician Assistant. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director and Director of Interventional Radiology, the Physician Assistant provides clinical expertise to clients of the Practice and serves as a resource for other healthcare providers as needed.
Schedule:
Thursday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Ideally, the part time PA will also support vacation coverage for the two full time PA's as mutually agreed. No holiday and No call.
Responsibilities
A. Patient Care and Clinical Duties
Provide and coordinate care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures.
Conduct pre-procedural history, examination, evaluation, and documentation; order appropriate laboratory and imaging tests.
Deliver post-procedural follow-up care, including daily inpatient rounds, tube checks and removals, line placement checks, documentation, and ordering follow-up tests as indicated.
Provide consultation, evaluation, and coordination of care for select radiology procedures such as uterine artery embolization, vertebroplasty, and kyphoplasty.
Once proficient, perform minor interventional procedures including PICC line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis, arthrogram injections, feeding tube placements, and other minor procedures.
Participate in the outpatient interventional radiology clinic, including patient follow-up and Breast Center procedure follow-up.
Conduct post-procedural phone interviews with outpatients, schedule follow-up care, and collect satisfaction data.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
B. Communication and Collaboration
Act as a liaison with referring providers and collaborate with the marketing team.
Assist in developing educational materials for patients and referring physicians.
Round on inpatient cases daily and build relationships with hospitalists, residents, and nursing staff to promote interventional radiology services.
Participate in periodic outreach and customer service visits to referring physicians.
C. Operations and Professional Development
Coordinate and manage clinic operations in collaboration with hospital department managers.
Participate in professional development activities, maintain professional affiliations, and attend conferences and workshops.
Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested, including the Interventional Services Committee.
Demonstrate awareness of and adherence to HIPAA and Medicare compliance standards.
Prescribe, order, administer, and monitor sedation patients in an imaging center environment.
The Physician Assistant Must Be:
Knowledgeable of professional nursing theory and methods for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Skilled in the application and modification of the principles, methods, and techniques used to provide high-quality ongoing patient care.
Familiar with the medical equipment and instruments utilized to administer quality and effective patient care.
Knowledgeable of common safety hazards, radiology safety hazards, and precautions taken to establish a safe working environment.
Familiar with-or willing to become familiar upon hiring-the terminology, procedures, expected outcomes, and potential complications (including warning signs and acute treatment) for interventional radiology.
Skilled in identifying problems and researching and recommending possible solutions.
Skilled in the preparation and maintenance of health records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
Skilled in developing and maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Able to maintain quality control standards.
Able to react calmly and effectively in emergent situations.
Able to interpret, adapt, and apply clinical practice guidelines.
Able to communicate clearly in the English language, both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current PA licensure in the State of Washington and national certification by the NCCPA.
One year of professional experience preferred (new graduates with a strong interest in radiology will be considered).
Familiarity with EPIC systems preferred.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Current DEA number or eligibility to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
