Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Neuro Trauma to provide advanced clinical leadership and direct patient care within our specialized neuro trauma unit. In this role, you will coordinate and oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of neuro trauma patient care, serving as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses and support staff. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and ancillary teams to ensure safe, timely, and evidence-based care for patients with complex neurological and traumatic injuries. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement patient-centered care plans, administer medications and treatments, and closely monitor neurological status, hemodynamics, and overall patient progress. You will support and reinforce clinical protocols, trauma and neuro pathways, and hospital policies, and play a key role in improving quality outcomes, patient safety indicators, and patient satisfaction scores. This position includes providing real-time coaching and mentorship to staff, assisting with onboarding and competency validation, and actively participating in interdisciplinary rounds, case reviews, and performance improvement initiatives. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will help manage patient flow, bed placement priorities, and escalation of changes in patient condition, while maintaining thorough and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. You will communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, providing education on diagnosis, treatment plans, post-discharge care needs, and available resources. Working within Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s culture of healthcare excellence and continuous improvement, you will contribute to staff education, evidence-based practice projects, and adoption of new clinical technologies and standards.
