HCA Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Emergency Department (ED) Nights to support our mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. In this leadership-focused clinical role, you will serve as a key resource and point of coordination for patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team during the night shift, ensuring that emergency care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with evidence-based practices.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator ED Nights functions as an experienced ED RN and frontline leader, providing direct patient care while coordinating daily clinical operations on the unit. You will help oversee patient flow, triage acuity, and bed placement, supporting charge nurses and collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, lab, radiology, and ancillary departments to promote timely, high-quality emergency care. You will help guide clinical decision-making, monitor adherence to protocols and core measures, and advocate for both patients and staff.
In this role, you will provide real-time coaching, mentoring, and support to ED nurses, techs, and other team members, fostering a positive work environment built on teamwork, respect, and continuous learning. You will participate in onboarding and precepting of new staff, reinforcing best practices in emergency nursing, trauma care, sepsis management, stroke and cardiac pathways, medication safety, and infection prevention. You will help identify opportunities for improvement, support quality and performance initiatives, and champion a culture of safety and accountability.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will maintain a visible presence on the unit during the night shift, responding to escalations, assisting with complex or high-acuity patients, and communicating effectively with physicians and leadership about clinical or operational concerns. You will help ensure appropriate staffing levels, equitable assignment of patient loads, and safe handoffs between shifts. You will document care accurately and assist in monitoring key metrics such as throughput times, left-without-being-seen (LWBS) rates, and adherence to service and quality standards.
Working as part of HCA Healthcare, you will join a company recognized for its commitment to compassion, innovation, and integrity. You will have access to extensive professional development, clinical education resources, and opportunities to grow your career into advanced clinical, leadership, or administrative roles. In partnership with a dedicated team of emergency professionals, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients and families at some of the most critical moments of their lives.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Night shift flexibility, commitment to teamwork, and a passion for emergency nursing and patient-centered care are essential to success in this role.
