Opportunity:
Unit Med Surg/ TELE - Inpatient Surgical - 3rd floor
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day shifts starting at 7:00 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-6 on night shifts and 1:5-6 with LPN support
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday for both shifts)
• Participate in holiday rotation with core staff
• No call or standby requirements
• Float to like units only; if floated to higher acuity units, work as help-all without patient assignment
• Must have EPIC experience as facility is undergoing EPIC conversion in Q2 2026
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of surgical experience required
• Must have total joint experience and understanding of PCA pumps
• Experience required with TPN/Lipids, reversal drugs (Narcan), and sepsis management
• Responsible for titrating Heparin drips per protocol
• Must interpret telemetry strips using Draeger monitors
• Primary care nursing model frequently used
• Work with 48 beds across two buildings in fast-paced environment
• Handle 8-12 surgery admissions per day plus patient discharges
• Care for patients with neurological procedures, abdominal surgeries, joint replacements, and complex medical conditions
• Black scrubs required
• One 12-hour orientation shift on unit and shift of hire

This acute care facility operates as a Level 2 trauma center providing comprehensive surgical and medical services. The medical-surgical telemetry unit features 48 beds across two buildings and maintains a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. The facility utilizes advanced monitoring systems and supports complex patient care including neurological procedures, orthopedic surgeries, and various medical conditions requiring specialized nursing expertise.
