IMU - Intermediate Care Unit
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Must be on unit ready to go by 6:45 AM/PM
• Weekend requirements include working 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday/Saturday/Sunday all considered weekend shifts)
• Patient ratios typically 1:5, goal of 1:4, occasionally 1:6
• Must float to telemetry or medical/surgical units as needed with ratios up to 1:6 or possibly 1:7 in med/surg
• Self-scheduling allowed as long as unit needs are met
• Staff allowed 4 requested days off per month
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Dress code: Navy blue scrub top and bottom, navy scrub jackets, no hoodies
• Must provide copy of unexpired driver's license and live within 50-mile radius
• Care for patients with chest pain, rule out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post pacemaker, pre/post catheterization procedures
• Manage radial bands and groin checks, Tikosyn therapy patients
• Strict attendance policy: 2 occurrences of tardiness or call-offs within 13-week contract results in termination
• Two-day orientation with preceptor after initial HR orientation

This healthcare organization operates a 30-bed intermediate care unit featuring 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms. The facility maintains comprehensive 24/7 support services including hospitalist coverage, intensivist services, IV team, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services. The unit utilizes modern technology including Nihon Kohden telemetry monitors and EPIC charting system, providing high-quality intermediate care for patients requiring acuity levels between general medical/surgical and intensive care.
